Khaya Cookies Co.
In Spring 2009 I worked with Mister Machine to create questforcapetown.com, a promotional micro-website for Khaya Cookie Co. The objective of this project was to promote a trip to Cape Town, South Affica and to drive traffic to the parent e-commerce website.
This website was developed using the open-source PHP framework CodeIgniter with a MySQL database. It also makes extensive use of the JQuery JavaScript library.
Diversion Media
In Fall 2008 and Winter 2009 I worked with Diversion Media to develop liveonsunset.com, an interactive entertainment shopping experience. This website is both an urban e-commerce clothing store and a fashion video portal.
liveonsunset.com was developed using Ruby On Rails and integrates with the Shopify (e-commerce) and Ooyala Backlog (video CMS) APIs. I was the technical project manager for this project, managing the development of the application by a distributed development team.
Flatiron Media
Flatiron Media brought me on in the Summer of 2008 to project manage application development for mydailymoment.com. My Daily Moment specialized in women's entertainment and boasts more than 1 million uniques visits per day.
For Flatiron Media I managed a remote development team located in the Dominican Republic. The application was build using Joomla! CMS and CakePHP.
PURE PROJECT
PURE PROJECT is a incubator for socially and environmentally sustainable businesses. PURE PROJECT embraces principals of conscious capitalism and has been involved with several socially conscious endeavors including the Figment arts festival on Governors Island and Picnick, a sustainable restaurant that helps support the Battery Conservancy for Battery Park.
I worked directly with the founder, Ryan Fix, to create pureproject.org for publishing PURE PROJECT news and events using Joomla! CMS.
Time Warner, Inc.
Before working as an independent internet technology professional I worked for several years with Time Warner, Inc. in New York City as a software developer and technical analyst.
Using Microsoft technologies including ASP.NET and SQL Server, I developed and supported enterprise business applications for business groups including Transportation & Logistics, Legal, and Accounting.
My work as lead developer for Time Warner's Document Exchange application lead to approximately $10 million in annual savings of corporate shipping costs. I also played in integral role in upgrading GIFTS, a third-party, financial tracking application for philanthropic givings. GIFTS is a client/server application made available to Time Warner divisions via secure Citrix Server hosting.
Index Stock Imagery, Inc.
I began my career in technology back in 1999 where I worked with a small group of web developers at Index Stock Imagery to help transform a traditional stock photography business in an online digital asset content provider.
Soon I was managing a growing team of front-end web developers while honing my skills as a back-end developer. While at Index Stock, I helped launch two successful stock photography web products using ASP and SQL Server: photostogo.com and indexstock.com.
